Custom watercolor commissions are priced based on the size and detail of the painting. I offer two tiers of commissioned paintings. Tier One are larger, and more detailed, and the foreground and background are both fully rendered. These require a significantly larger time commitment. Tier Two are smaller paintings where the subject is fully rendered but the background is a loose wash. Once we have talked through your specific hopes and vision, I will send you the exact price for your painting.
Half of the total price will be required upon agreement, and the remainder once the painting is completed.
Tier One commissioned paintings are typically completed 2-3 months after the contract is signed. Tier Two paintings take 3-4 weeks. This will vary depending on the size and subject, and specifics about the timeline will be given after our initial meeting.
15" x 20" - $2,300 | 20" x 28" - $4,000
9" x 11" - $500 | 11" x 15" - $700
All of my watercolor commissions are painted using the highest quality paints and surfaces. I use Arches 300 lb. watercolor papers which are mouldmade in France, with 100% cotton fiber content. They are acid-free, pH-neutral, gelatin-sized, and air-dried. They are so durable that they will remain beautiful and vibrant for centuries without conservation, if stored and handled properly.
I use Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors which are formulated to meet and exceed the highest industry standards. Every batch is analyzed for its performance qualities – lightfastness, color value, tinting strength, clarity, vibrancy, undertone, particle size, density and viscosity.
All of that to say, I take every aspect of my art very seriously! Quality really matters to me. I have spent years not only fine tuning my skills specifically within watercolor (I've been drawing and painting for over 26 years) but also ensuring that the quality of my finished painting is professional and will stand the test of time.
Commissioning a fine art painting is transforming special moments and treasured memories into a tangible family heirloom that will never be forgotten.
